Read ‘Andy Warhol’ by Keith Ridgway online

The Stinging Fly is still the talk of the town (well, the web bit of it, at least) over in New York. The Literarian, the online journal from The Center for Fiction, has made The Fly its featured international journal for their latest issue. And to mark the occasion, they’ve republished Keith Ridgway’s wonderful short story, 'Andy Warhol', which first appeared in our New York-themed issue.

Where: The Grand Social (Formerly Pravda), 35 Lower Liffey Street.

When: Monday, December 12, 8pm onwards.

Dave Lordan to guest edit Summer 2012 issue of The Stinging Fly

We are delighted to announce that Dave Lordan has agreed to guest edit our Summer 2012 issue. An award-winning poet, short-story writer and playwright, Dave has been a regular contributor to the magazine over the past few years. We look forward to working with him over the next six months.

Kevin Barry on Costa shortlist

Hearty congratulations are due to Kevin Barry for making it onto the Costa First Novel Award shortlist. His debut novel, City of Bohane, described by the judging panel as “startlingly original – a tour de force of language and imagination,” is joined on the list by Patrick McGuinness’ The Last Hundred Days, Christie Watson’s Tiny Sunbirds Far Away, and Kerry Young’s Pao.

Michael J. Farrell readings: Dublin, Limerick and Cork

Life in the Universe author, Michael J. Farrell, is one of eighteen authors who will read in venues all across Ireland from October 18th to November 24th as part of the Irish Writers' Centre's ongoing Peregrine Reading series.

Sean O'Reilly reading: October 21st

Sean O'Reilly will be reading at the Irish Writers' Centre next Friday, October 21st.  The event, which kicks off at 1pm, is part of the Centre's weekly Lunchtime Reading series, and will see Sean read from his short story 'All Day and All of the Night', which is published in our latest issue.

To celebrate the launch of our special New York-themed issue, we have lined up (what we hope will be) three fantastic events on three consecutive nights on October 25th, 26th and 27th.

All the events are free and everyone is welcome to attend.  If you are lucky enough to be in New York, do come along and join us. (We'd ask all our readers and supporters in Ireland to spread the word to anyone they think might be interested in coming along and welcoming The Fly to New York!)
